Are you a romantic at heart? Do you long for adventure? We all have different requirements for the perfect holiday, but a cruise can fulfill all those aspirations if the cruise holidays on offer are carefully researched.
You want the ultimate dream honeymoon? Princess Cruises was named best Cruise for Romance by travel editors in 2009, and for ten years was the location for the American TV series ‘The Love Boat’, so what better recommendation could you want?
Princess cruise ships have all the right ingredients for a romantic interlude, plus some extras to add even more romance to your honeymoon, or anniversary celebration.
They can be small extras such as an upgrade to a balcony stateroom which needn’t cost a fortune; these can often be found discounted on late cruise deals Once onboard there is The Sanctuary Spa, with special offers for couples, a balcony dining experience for that celebration supper or if you want to make the occasion even more memorable there are two packages available: the Honeymoon Experience, which includes Champagne and red roses on arrival plus a formal photograph and more goodies such as chocolate strawberries, or the Deluxe version which includes all of the above plus a tour of the bridge, a relaxing massage for two, and a champagne breakfast. How decadent is that? And in the evening? Snuggle up on deck and watch a movie under the stars.
While some passengers love the onboard entertainment, dining and sports facilities, for many it’s the shore excursions that decide the particular cruise. They love to sail into a new port, and can’t wait to get onshore and start exploring.
Princess Cruises have some great treats lined up in their excursions itinerary
If you like wild life – whales in particular – try an Alaskan summer cruise to Juneau. Passengers get the opportunity to go on a whale-watching catamaran and you’re almost guaranteed to see plenty of whales, as well as seals, sea lions and bald eagles. How about a salmon bake at the Orca Point Lodge? The lodge is situated in a beautifully peaceful setting, and if you like fish it’s food heaven. While you’re in Juneau you’ll be able to visit the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier.
Always dreamt of galloping along a surf- fringed beach? Well if you take a cruise to the Dutch Antilles, which includes a port stop in St Maarten you’ll be able to do just that. You will ride on quiet, pristine beaches and nature reserve.
If scuba diving is a bit old-hat, or too scary, do you fancy diving to 100 feet beneath the sea in a submarine? This excursion is available on Mexican holiday cruises on all Princess ships stopping at Cozumel. The submarine pilots will help you identify the fish and help you to get close up to fantastic coral, shellfish and sponges.
Princess Cruises offer the chance to escape to some of the world’s most amazing settings, from the Caribbean to Alaska.

Florida Vacation Rental Apartments
On January 27th, 2012 by admin | Comments Off | Posted in Travel Tips
Privately-owned apartments are widely available for short term and long term vacation rentals all over Florida. There are several agencies that house large databases of vacation rental apartments in Florida. Such private holiday homes give a superior vacation experience when compared to a hotel.
Owners of vacation rental apartments register their property details with agencies. They also ensure that the details are supported by an availability calendar. The data on this calendar helps tourists decide on bookings for specific dates.
The options available are many; one bedroom with one bath, two bedrooms with one or two baths- and so on. Whatever the size, most of the apartments come with a deck or balcony where you can relax, with the sounds of nature forming a pleasant continuous backdrop.
Most of the apartments are located close to beaches giving residents easy access and fabulous views. Seemingly never-ending stretches of white sand, sparkling aqua blue water and cheerfully twittering seabirds are freebies that come with every apartment.
The usual practice for payment of rentals is that only US currency is accepted unless specifically agreed upon otherwise. The advertised rates for apartments always refer to double occupancy. Additional guests are charged on a per head basis and allowed up to maximum occupancy limits. During holidays, special rates and specifications regarding minimum number of nights are applicable. The general practice is that all Florida vacation rental apartments are let out for a minimum of three night’s stay.
A one bedroom apartment is rented out at $90-$120 a day. Weekly rates work out to around $450 – $600 and monthly rents are in the range of $1800-$2100. Two bedroom apartments are rented out at $100- $140 a day, $500 – $ 750 a week and $2000 – $ 3000 a month. Luxury apartments of the same size have higher rentals and larger apartments with lesser amenities may even come with lesser rentals than these.

Cheap Travel

I have spent much of the last two weeks playing in the Grenadines, sailing between the different islands, and scuba diving as often as I can. Diving has become my new favorite hobby. And the Grenadines provide pristine reefs and abundant sea life to explore. So I have taken the plunge. I have dived Horseshoe Reef and Mayreau Gardens in the Tobago Cays, the Devil’s Table in Bequia, and the House Dive in Mustique. Unfortunately I am limited by where I can go by my dinghy and the ripping ocean currents. But every time I descend into the crystal clear turquoise water- it is well worth it.
All goes silent as you descend to the ocean floor below, and the only noise is the bubbles from your regulator. And after you clear your ears, get oriented with the reef, and check in with your dive buddy- you take off exploring. It is just so peaceful and beautiful underwater. I are often amazed at all the different corals, so bright and colorful. And I often find myself surrounded by thousands of fish. You never know what you might encounter in the Caribbean Sea; a nurse shark sleeping under a rock ledge, a swarm of pompanos that are just as curious about you as you are of them, or a sting ray buried in the sand. There is just so much to see!
Most of the dives are too deep to take the underwater camera along- bummer! But the one exception is the House Dive off Mustique. This shallow dive is not more than 30 feet deep and rather easy. However, just because this is an easy dive does not make it an uninteresting one. Quite the contrary! It was a fabulous dive. Im pleasantly surprised with the coral and tropical fish there. I saw large schools of grunts, triangular shaped trunk fish, shy squirrel fish, a gold spotted eel slithering along the rocks, and tons of groupers and parrot fish abound. One of my favorite fishes that I have discovered there is a spotted drum, a black and white fish with long fin on the top that waves around like a feather- cool! I finally bought a Reef Fish Identification book so one of our favorite apr?s dive activity is to look up all the fish I just observed. I’m definitely becoming quite the diving enthusiasts and am lucky to be living in the Caribbean, where my back yard is the ocean blue.
Carnival Cruises – Big Values From The Biggest Cruise Line
On January 25th, 2012 by admin | Comments Off | Posted in Cruises
The name of Carnival Cruises is synonymous with cruise vacations, and Carnival Cruise Lines is now the largest single cruise operator in the business, with its acquisitions of Costa, Cunard, Princess, P&O, Seabourn, the Holland America Line, and five additional cruise operators on North America, Australia, and Europe.
In the thirty five years of its existence since the 1972 inaugural sailing of the TSS Mardi Gras, which unfortunately ran aground on a sandbar in the port of Miami, Carnival Cruise Lines have currently grown to operate a fleet of cruise ships large enough to qualify as a private navy, and may Carnival cruises may cover much of the Earth’s oceans as the world’s great navies do.
Carnival Cruise Lines have gone to great lengths to brand their ships as “The Fun Ships,” and originally made their name by offering short, inexpensive cruises on vessels with d?cor and entertainment reminiscent of Las Vegas. The most recognizable features of carnival cruise ships are their red-white-and-blue funnels built to resemble the tails of whales, and Fun Ship Freddy, a fantasy figure whose head resembles the Carnival ship funnel.
Carnival Destinations
Carnival Cruises aboard the carnival ship line are most often scheduled for the Caribbean, but as of 2007 Carnival cruises aboard the Carnival Freedom to both Turkey and Greece, and aboard the Carnival Spirit to Alaska and Hawaii are now available. In the Southern Caribbean, Carnival Destiny leaves from the Ports of San Juan, Aruba, and Barbados, and the Carnival Fantasy class ships are reserved for the prototypical three to five day Carnival cruises from Miami to ports in Mexico, the Bahamas, and nearby Caribbean destinations.
Carnival Entertainments And Eateries
Regardless of their itineraries, Carnival cruises are famous for the amazing variety of onboard diversions they offer their passengers. Every ship has at least two swimming pools, complete with waterslides, and on the Destiny-class ships one of the pools will have a retractable roof so swimming is always available no matter where the Carnival cruises are headed. The ships’ casinos are a major attraction on Carnival cruises, and in their glitz and neon they compare well to those of Las Vegas resorts. But the forte of Carnival cruises might well be in the cruise line’s approach to feeding its guests.
Carnival is adopting a schedule of four dinner seatings, instead of the traditional two, in some of its ships’ main dining rooms, and it is also beginning to include restaurants which specialize in a particular type of cuisine along with its regular restaurants. Meals at these specialty restaurants will be at no additional cost. Some lucky guests on Carnival cruises [http://www.best-cruiselines.com/category/luxury-cruises] will even have a patisserie where they can indulge to their hearts’ content!
If Carnival cruises sound like the perfect vacations to you, just be sure to research the amenities of each ship before you book a cabin, because they will vary widely depending on the class of Carnival ship you book!

Aviation Firefighters Jobs
On January 24th, 2012 by admin | Comments Off | Posted in Aviation
With an airport as busy as it is, all the planes and people coming and going, who do they call when there is a dangerous incident that involves chemicals or fire? They call the fire department, that’s who, but since the fire department couldn’t respond very quickly to an airport incident, the airport has their own separate mini fire department. These firefighters are called aviation firefighters. When we take a close look at these firefighters we get a little more understanding of their jobs and how different they really are. Although they get the same level of first aid training, there are some major differences that are very noticeable if you ever get to see some of these aviation firefighters in action.
Since a large number of plane accidents occur over water, the aviation firefighters must have the ability to aid in the situation, quickly by use of mobile vehicles as well as watercraft. While aiding in the evacuation of people under life threatening conditions, they must have the ability to remain calm, while making immediate decisions in the best interest of each situation. They have knowledge and skills of first aid that are far above basic, and are required to maintain proper certification during the length of their jobs. Most of the equipment they use is equal to standard firefighting equipment, but they also use some tools and chemicals designed for more advanced fires and situations. They have an understanding of and an ability to use a wide variety of advanced equipment along with the usual hoses, foam sprayers, and machines. They must also know how to maintain and care for all fire vehicles and working equipment.
These aviation firefighters must keep in mind the necessity of protecting the environment as well people. They are well versed in what course of actions would best suit the current conditions in case of an emergency. During the normal hustle and bustle of the airports daily activities, these firefighters are manning the Fire Control Center at each respective airport. They are the ones that make sure safety rules and regulations are being followed while also being ready to respond in an emergency. They observe the arrivals and departures of all incoming and outgoing aircraft, to make sure safety is being kept in mind. Another job performed by them is the inspections concerning fire safety and inspections of all fire alarms within the airport. These firefighters usually have their hands full with all the buzzing airport activity. They are also responsible for educating the airport employees on any new changes that are made to fire safety routines or practices, and must conduct drills systematically to ensure everyone’s safety in the event of an emergency.
Not only are these firefighters required to be physically fit, they must be able to swim and dive with an underwater breathing apparatus. The physical requirements are quite intense, due to the nature of the job and the type of crises that they have to respond to. To know the aviation firefighters is to appreciate them.
Navy Vs. Marine Aviation
On January 24th, 2012 by admin | Comments Off | Posted in Aviation
The primary difference is in the “life-style” of a Marine and a Sailor. Marines all consider themselves combat riflemen first, and whatever job they have second. Generally, Marines have to meet a higher physical fitness and disciplinary standard than any of the other services.
The flying training program is much the same. In fact, Marine and Navy pilots go through the same flying training program (for the most part).
The Active Duty Service Commitment is real. It costs almost a million dollars to train a military pilot or navigator, and the military services want to make sure they get their money’s worth (and are not just training someone for an airline pilot’s job).
The active duty service commitment (A.D.S.C.) for Navy and Marine Corps pilots is 8 years (following graduation from flight training). The A.D.S.C. for Navy and Marine Corps NFOs (following training) is 6 years (following completion of training and designation as an N.F.O.).
The ADSC for Air Force pilots is 10 years, following completion of flight training, and 8 years for navigators (following training).
The Navy and Marine Corps does not have a “Palace Chase” program, and — just for info, the Air Force rarely (if ever) allows pilots and navigators, who are on their initial active duty service obligation to participate in “Palace Chase”.
As I said, flight training is expensive, and the services want to get their money’s worth. I spent several years as the first sergeant of various Air Force flying squadrons, and I never (not once, not a single time) saw a pilot or navigator on their initial active duty service obligation approved for a “Palace Chase” or “Palace Front” active duty separation. Not once. Not even close (unless they were disqualified from flying for such reasons as medical).
In an F-18 (or any other Navy aircraft), the pilot is called “a Navy Pilot.” In a two-seat aircraft, the other officer (who navigates and operates the weapon systems) is called an “N.F.O.” (Navy Flight Officer). As a group, they are both referred to as “aircrew.”
Any military member, aboard the aircraft (of whatever type) who is flying on the aircraft, with a job to perform aboard that aircraft, as part of the aircraft crew is an “aircrew member.” That means, on two-seat aircraft, such as the F/A-18, both the pilot and the NFO is referred to as “aircrew.”
On other types of aircraft, there would be more than two “aircrew members.” For example, the EC3 “Hawkeye” carries a crew of five. All of them (pilot, co-pilot, NFO, enlisted techs) are “aircrew” on the aircraft.
With the Marine Corps when you join them they will give you a chose of 3 MOS that you can pick from, but you can only pick one of the three no matter if you don’t like any of them. I’m afraid that’s the way the Marine Corps does enlisted job choices. If can always of to there web site or call someone from that branch and ask them questions.
But, quite simply, you’re not going to become a Marine Corps pilot unless you (1) get a college degree (2) get commissioned (OCS or PLC), and (3) pass the flight aptitude tests and flight physical. About one candidate out of every five makes it through the selection process.
Finding That Special Person While on Vacation
On January 23rd, 2012 by admin | Comments Off | Posted in Travel Tips
I’m not playing the dating game anymore, but I did it for ten years as a young, single mom, so I know all too well what it’s like.? Is it even possible to meet someone while on vacation?? Well, it’s not a lock, but it usually exposes you to far more people than you meet working that 9 to 5 job every day.? I’m just going to lay out a few tips and hope that something will work like magic for you.
1)?First of all, make up your mind that you’re going to stowaway those ugly mental mantras for good:? “My life is borrrring,”? “I’m so unattractive,” “I’m terrible at the dating game,” “I’ve got kids,” “Everyone else is cool,” and on it goes, ad nauseum.? Believe me, 99% of the people you meet are no different than you. They’re thinking their life is the most boring on record.?There are no real life James Bonds/Charlie’s Angels.
2)?Probably the easiest way to meet someone is to go on a singles’ tour or cruise. Of course, age range does matter in most instances. Make sure that if you’re 30, the tour isn’t for seniors or for college kids.? But out of a tour group of, say, 50 people roughly in your age range, surely there should be one person who, at worst, has some similar interests and, at best, strikes the spark of romance.? Of course, it also helps if the tour is a 10-day rather than a 2-day. It takes some time to make the rounds and find out who’s who.? Try to book at least a week-long tour.
3)?Without sounding like a robot, try to ask questions that can quickly establish whether a person is even mildly compatible with you.? Here are some biggies:? Do you like the personality? Is the person never-married, divorced, widowed, with or without kids? Does the person share your religious views? Is the person a partier? Do you share at least a few significant interests?? Do you sense flashing red alerts like excessive emotional baggage, hang ups, suppressed anger? Is the person? enjoyable—comfortable to? be around??
4)?Be friendly, polite, and efficient.? If you’re on a 6-day cruise and it takes you three days to meet three people, your odds for finding a match are significantly reduced. At the mixers, case out the room, pick out a few possibilities and engage each in a few minutes of focused conversation, then smoothly move on.? After you’ve conversed with five or six, decide if any stood out as individuals you might like to know better. If not, check out some more or visit the next room serving appetizers.?
5)?If a singles’ tour just wasn’t practical or if your kids are with you, that complicates things but doesn’t rule out meeting someone special.? One thing you can do is zero in on adults traveling with a child or two.? If your children start playing with other kids poolside or wherever, maybe you can get to know their single parents.? Who knows? There may just be a fun adult who really would enjoy meeting you.
6)?One reason cruises are nice is that most of them have great kids’ programs on board.? This could give you some free hours to socialize, go to a karaoke bar, or to a show and meet people.
7)?If you’re the outgoing type, don’t be afraid to volunteer for one of those crazy games the show host plays when he calls for volunteers from the audience.? So you think you made a fool of yourself?? Someone in the audience may admire your pluck or think you or what you did up there was cute. Nothing like getting a little exposure in front of the whole gang.
8)?If you’re the extremely shy type, go on vacation with an outgoing unattached friend you can trust.? Then you can meet people together.? Just make an agreement beforehand:? if you two meet two other friends and you have no attraction to the matching person, you’re allowed to split up and do our own thing rather than get trapped in a twosome that is just plain miserable for you.? Whatever you do, don’t get your heart so set on finding someone that not finding him or her ruins your whole vacation.? Go to have fun, no matter what. If you happen to meet a friend in the process, that’s just icing on the cake.
Go on. Get outta here and start planning the vacation of a lifetime—just maybe the vacation where you meet the love of your life.
